Business Insurance - Low-carbon show 'to promote eco vehicles for firms'

The EV & Low CO2 Fleet Show is set to take place later this year and could be a great opportunity for businesses across the UK to check out the latest in eco-friendly fleet solutions.

It is being held at world-famous racing circuit Silverstone in Northamptonshire and will take place on April 18th.

The latest low-carbon diesel, hybrid and electric vehicles will all be on display for visitors, with the event also set to provide opportunities for fleet managers to test drive many of the vehicles on show.

Furthermore, they will be able to discuss future drive-train strategies with leading motor manufacturers, as well as find out more about low-emission light commercial vehicles and the increasing opportunities for the uptake of electric vehicles.

Indeed, electrical charge points are to a key topic for visitors, as a number of suppliers and recharging infrastructure providers will be in attendance to offer their expertise in this area.

This will be the first year the event is taking place at the historic racetrack, having previously been held at the National Motorcycle Museum.

"With so much interest in the EV sector at present we felt a move to Silverstone was needed to give us additional space and facilities in a first-class and easily accessible venue," Mr Durkin noted.

The announcement follows the publication of data by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, which showed van registrations were up last month, marking the end of a positive year for the industry.

It showed a 13.7 per cent month-on-month rise in new registrations to 23,026, while registrations for the whole year rose by 17.8 per cent to 303,097 in 2011.
