Business Insurance - Nissan picks up two prizes at 2011 Fleet World Honours

Nissan has picked up two awards at the 2011 Fleet World Honours, with its LEAF and Qashqai models both emerging victorious.

The former claimed top spot in the Environmental Award category, while the Qashqai was named Best SUV.

Steve Moody, editor of Fleet World, said that the co-friendly LEAF scores well in a number of areas and is at the forefront of electric vehicle development.

"Until the Nissan LEAF, electric cars have been a consideration for only the most particular role in business," he stated.

The Qashqai, he added, is still number one in its class as well.

"It continues to defy all attempts to knock it off its number one pedestal, selling in vast numbers, despite being in one of the most competitive sectors in the market," Mr Moody noted.

The LEAF was recently named the 2011 World Car of the Year at the New York International Auto Show.
