Business Insurance - Green cars 'will become more popular as fuel prices rise'

Green cars are set to become more popular as fuel prices increase, one industry expert has suggested.

Neil Wallis, head of communications at the Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership - an action and advisory group, established in 2003 to take a lead in accelerating the shift to low carbon vehicles and fuels in the UK - said these motors will grow in popularity and it is cheaper to access the congestion charge zones when using these vehicles.

He added: "The driving of green and emissions-saving cars go hand-in-hand with good cost savings from things like reducing fuel use to taxes."

These comments could be of interest to business car insurance seekers looking to improve their carbon footprint and save their company money in the long-term.

Last year, the Nissan Leaf was named Car of the Year 2011, despite being the first full electric motor ever to be a finalist in the contest.
