Business Insurance - Lower costs for Volvo V40

Businesses hoping to reduce the cost of their fleet solutions may be interested to learn that the Volvo V40 could now be cheaper to insure following the completion of a study into the vehicle's safety technology.

Following comprehensive testing at Thatcham's Motor Insurance Repair Research Centre in Berkshire, Volvo's new Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) safety features were shown to be effective at reducing accident figures at low speeds.

As a result, AEB has been added to insurer's safety criteria, meaning the V40 range will now be given an insurance rating two to three groups lower under the new criteria.

"It is tremendous that our efforts are now reaping additional benefits for drivers: lower insurance ratings mean reduced premiums," commented Volvo Car Corporation's director of governmental affairs Anders Eugensson.

In August, the V40 underwent testing by Euro NCAP and achieved a coveted five-star safety rating.

The model set a new record for the overall best score, achieving maximums in safety assist criteria and pedestrian protection, as well as 98 per cent result for adult passenger protection.
