Chimbonda may require convicted driver insurance

One premier league footballer may find he requires convicted driver insurance in the future.

Blackburn Rovers star Pascal Chimbonda has received a six-month ban after being found guilty of speeding in both North Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire.

He was caught travelling at 82 mph on the A1 near Newark last October, as well as being clocked travelling 91 mph on the A19 on the outskirts of Thirsk in January.

The footballer already had 12 points on his licence and so magistrates felt they had no option but to issue a ban.

Chimbonda was not present in court when the ruling was given.

The 30-year-old was previously charged with getting behind the wheel without insurance.

As well as the six-month ban, he was ordered to pay fines and court costs of £2,185.

The footballer was born in Guadeloupe and began his career for the French team Le Havre AC back in 1999.
