Ford Fiesta 'UK's favourite used car'

The UK's favourite used car has been revealed as the Ford Fiesta, which sold 285,962 units in 2010, which may be of interest to those with modified car insurance.

According to Experian's latest analysis of the automotive sector, the second best vehicle - also the winner in 2009 - was the Vauxhall Corsa, which sold 278,169.

However, 2010's figures didn't outperform those of the year before, with fewer units sold overall, apart from the Ford Focus, which rose from 248,021 models to 259,355.

"Experian's analysis shows that affordable smaller vehicles continue to be the most appealing to motorists shopping in the used car market," Joe Myers, automotive general manager with the company, observed.

In spite of these results, people may be more tempted to opt for a new vehicle, particularly after hearing that Skoda UK won three prizes at this year's Skoda Auto awards, including importer of the year and the top marketing gong.

Director Robert Hazelwood noted that a surge in demand is being seen for products in the five-model collection.
