New motoring group launched

Drivers across the UK, including those with a modified car insurance policy , may be interested to hear that a pro-motoring group is to be launched next month.

The new group, which has been named the Drivers' Alliance, has recruited Peter Roberts as its chief executive officer.

Mr Roberts is most famous for the anti-road pricing petition which he posted on the 10 Downing Street website.

Speaking to Local Transport Today, he stated: "Reducing congestions is a priority and should be tackled through improving the road infrastructure rather than the blunt and very expensive mechanism of price."

The mission statement of the Drivers' Alliance is that freedom of individual mobility is a fundamental human right.

Welcoming the Drivers' Alliance to the campaign front, ABD chairman Brian Gregory said the idea that driving a car is "a crime" or "the sole prerogative of the rich" was "abhorrent" and needed to be addressed.

The objective of the ABD is to lobby on behalf of Britain's drivers.
