Ford to demonstrate vans via UK roadshow tour

Leading auto manufacturer Ford is to demonstrate the benefits of its range of vans to drivers across the UK via a new tour being held across Britain in the coming months.

The company is allying with DIY retailer B&Q to demonstrate a cross-section of its award-winning range to van insurance policyholders and small business customers visiting B&Q TradePoint sites.

A total of 37 TradePoint VIP roadshows are being planned across the UK, from Aberdeen in the north-east to Plymouth in the south-west, with Ford and its regional dealers to provide manpower and marketing support for the events through to mid-November.

Ford has demonstrated that its roadshow strategy can prove successful following the first TradePoint VIP event that took place in Bolton earlier this month, a two-day roadshow which brought together around 30 equipment supply firms.

B&Q TradePoint sites have been identified as ideal locations for Ford to showcase its range of vans, as every outlet has thousands of registered customers on its books, all of which uses some form of commercial vehicle for their business.

Steve Clary, Ford's commercial vehicles director, said: "It is a great opportunity for Ford to meet trade customers and to demonstrate the attributes and benefits of Ford ownership.

"Ford is an event sponsor and at each event we will be displaying a variety of vehicles, including of course Ford Transit and Ford Transit Connect."

Ford is looking to build on its current success in the commercial vehicle market, with Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders figures showing that sales for the year to date have risen to 45,697, compared to 37,012 in 2010.

Meanwhile, the Transit has been the best-selling van in the UK since 1965, with sales of the standard model and the long and short-wheelbase versions of the Ford Transit Connect continuing to see year-on-year sales gains last month.
