History of Porsche

Often described as the world’s leading supercar, more Porsches where sold in the UK in 2012 than any other year. With a variety of Porsche models, and various price tags, the brand has become more obtainable than ever before.

Amongst all the supercar brands, Porsche is the one marque that has been able to successfully widen its appeal, becoming more affordable. 

When the 4x4 Porsche Cayenne was first launched it received a great deal of criticism (and still does on the BBC’s Top Gear programme) the brand extension idea and the model itself has proved a success, leading directly to the development of both the four seat Porsche Panamera and the new Porsche Mecan.

Adding to this widening choice of new Porsches, a buoyant market for second hand quality sports cars with the demand of value for money, Porsche insurance becomes obvious.

Performance Direct’s specialist Porsche knowledge dates back to the early 1970’s when its parent company, Grove & Dean was founded. However, it was only with the rise in popularity of hot hatch and modified vehicles, that the Performance Direct brand became well known.
